As a new(ish) brand, it’s always good to let people know who you are. Kind of like when you meet a new group and they make you stand up, say your name and tell a ‘fun fact’ about yourself… but less awkward. We won’t make you do that, we promise.
But, in all seriousness, a brand is only as much as their identity, so let’s start at the beginning of ours.
MISA Los Angeles was launched in the Spring of 2016 – hence why we said new(ish) – with founder and fashion designer Shadi Askari-Farhat at the helm. But, really, the brand began long before that.
Sixteen years ago, Shadi formed her first fashion brand, tbagslosangeles. This all happened as sort of an accident, when she hand-crafted a handbag and was then inundated with requests from friends and family that they wanted one too. So, the brand was born. From there, Shadi began creating clothing with a distinct bohemian vibe, bold prints and stretchy fabrics.
Fifteen years later, and Shadi felt that she was ready for a change. Just as with everything and everyone, she had grown and evolved as a woman and she wanted a brand that would reflect that. It was time for MISA.
MISA Los Angeles
The name of the brand originated from a combination of Shadi’s daughter’s names; Milla and Sayeh. How lovely is that? Shadi’s vision of the brand was to create something that better reflected her and the women she wanted to dress – perhaps they would even be the same women who had worn tbaglosangeles and had evolved in just the same way as the designer. She wanted to take her previous brand and extend on it whilst keeping that bohemian essence.
The MISA style captures a free-spirited, Bohemian woman who has a passion for travelling. She’s adventurous, inspired and full of beauty. The clothes she wears from MISA reflect her lifestyle and show who she is.
Every detail of the MISA Los Angeles’ clothing collection is intricately crafted to reflect this style. There are plenty of frills, ruffles and chiffon cut into feminine silhouettes for an elegant drape and detailed embroidery adds something a little special to the MISA ranges.
The clothes are designed to be worn on any figure of any age; as long as you’re a woman with a spirit that can’t be held down, these clothes will look at home on you.
